Outline

Chemistry itself is largely international but education can not be completely international since education in general is a part of culture which has deeply been influenced by the history, politics, economy and sociology of each country.

The world is roughly divided into several area like Europe or Africa. It must be admitted that each area has its own history, culture, etc. which seems fairly characteristic to each area. This is the reason why the organizers have proposed this symposium, but he is not so optimistic as to expect that some conclusion can be drawn during the symposium. Rather, the organizers do not expect to have any definite conclusion. The purpose of this symposium is to provide interested participants with an opportunity to exchange opinions and information freely.

The symposium is comprised in a keynote lecture, several minisymposia, and general session. The following eminent chemists and chemical educators agrees to present lectures(20 min. each except for the keynote lecture) as indicated below. Besides, poster contributions for any aspect of chemical education are welcome. A few of them may be picked up to the minisymposium sessions.

In view of the convenience of school teachers, the Symposium on Chemical Education will be scheduled for Sunday(May 19) as a one-day symposium.
