which room is located on the second floor (by American and Japanese counting), or the first floor (by European counting), of the Engineering Building, Soka university.
when you reached to the main gate (Sei-Mon) of Soka university, then you can find the Engineering Building at your right hand.
when you came into the Engineering Building, the first floor is a lobby, and you will find an elevator (lift) to your right. Behind the elevator, there is a stair case to the second floor.
then turn to the right to reach to E207.
Some boards or signs will be arranged by the workshop to show directions as well as some guide students.
Please note that the building entrance is locked at noon on Saturday, and then the door will not open even from inside without key in the afternoon. If you want to come in or out, please consult a guide student or the organizer.
NOTE: All the information in this page has not been updated after 2014.
General: You will head to Hachioji in Tokyo-prefecture; however, it should be noted that the city of Hachioji is so big that you can find several train stations located inside the city. Please note that you have to reach to the town or area around Hachioji station (JR line) and Keio-Hachioji station (Keio line), which are in 500 m distance. Because we have one-day workshop, you may need to stay at this area at least two nights, before and the day of the workshop. The campus of Soka University is located in the north of the town, but again you have to take a bus trip for about 15 minutes from the town center. The workshop will arrange some guide students to lead you to the proper bus in the morning time, upon necessity. The details will be announced later.
by air: Note that we now have two Tokyo International Airports (TYO), Narita (NRT) and Haneda (HND). Some air carrier companies have flights to both airports. You can chose either airports for your destination, with your preference or convenience. From these airports, the easiest way to reach to the town of Hachioji is using Airport Limousine Bus, if the time schedule matches to your flight. Otherwise using trains is every time good choice for transportation in Japan.
to Hachioji station: choose JR-line; Chyuo-line, from Tokyo central station through Shinjuku-Kichijoji-Mitaka-Kokubunji-Tachikawa, will take you to Hachioji station. There is a line branch at Tachikawa station, please keep your destination to Takao station. Take 'rapid' or 'special rapid'.
to Keio-Hachioji station: choose Keio-line; starting from Shinjuku station, there are a couple of branches, but note that Keio-Hachioji station is the terminal destination of a line. Suggestion is to take 'Special Express', which requires no extra charge for express: do not take stopping train.
by bus:
From the train stations or the town area to Soka University, you need to take a bus, as mentioned above.
There are a couple of bus routs to reach the bus stop 'main gate (Sei-Mon) of Soka University', and quite regrettably a problem is that all the signs and destination boards shown in buses are available only in Japanese. For that reason the workshop will arrange some guide students to lead you to the proper bus in the morning time, upon necessity.
For the simplicity, the most suggested routs for the bus are:
【ひ02】富士美術館(ひよどり山トンネル経由)
【ひ04】創価大学循環(ひよどり山トンネル経由)
They are departing #14 bus stop at JR Hachioji station in the morning, #12 in the afternoon. The bus fare is 310JPY for one way. It is adviced to have exact coin ready. Coin changer in a bus is available, but it is not much convenient.
by car: We do not have proper car parking for guests. Please do not bring your car with you. Sorry for the inconvenience.
by taxi: If you prefer from anywhere in Japan you can use taxi to our campus on your own. Please tell the driver to go to 'main gate (Sei-Mon) of Soka University' for your destination. From Hachioji town center sometimes taxi driver asks whether you use 'tunnel', then anytime do not worry to answer yes. Approximately 1,800JPY from Hachioji station to Soka University for 15 minutes.
If you have any difficulty to find proper route of public transportation, please do not hesitate to ask to the organizer.
Accomodation:
Accommodations are not arranged by the workshop. Please book a hotel room by yourself.
Suggestions:
General: We have so good number of hotels in this area, around Hachioji station (JR line) and Keio-Hachioji station (Keio line), that you can find any quality hotels in the so-called business hotel line. The followings can be suggested, but it is not necessary to stay at the exact hotel. Just they are good examples of the location: one is located in the front of Hachioji station, and the other is located near Keio-Hachioji station. Their web-sites are available in English.
